We dentists love graphics and visuals to help educate our patients. Simple, effective, clear – which is why I’m including this handy dandy visual from https://jamanetwork.com/
Thank you Jama, for outlining so succinctly what our so-called health experts have been failing to tell us. Face masks should only be used by individuals with symptoms of respiratory infection, health care workers, or persons taking care of or in close contact with someone with a respiratory infection. Wait a second, those loose flowing or tight forming face masks are only there to prevent large sprays and droplets when coughing or sneezing? Well, I thought Covid-19 was airborne?

Yikes, it also says that we’re not supposed to touch the front of the mask and need to ensure a tight seal. Guess that’s out the window. The masks on our children’s faces have been touched more times than a door handle and are often made of cloth which is not sealable (unless we use Velcro or adhesives of some type?). And, as dentists, we change our masks VERY frequently; they should never be worn longer than an hour. School is 5-6 hours a day.
It’s time to face the face-masking facts. Healthy people should not be wearing masks.
“Face masks should not be worn by healthy individuals to protect themselves from acquiring respiratory infection because there is no evidence to suggest that face masks worn by healthy individuals are effective in preventing people from becoming ill.” (Desai, 2020)
Stay tuned, more juicy truth bombs to come regarding the harms of masking our children.
